Neuromuscular (Deep Tissue) Massage

Neuromuscular massage is generally considered Deep Tissue work. Obviously, Neuro is the nerve and muscular is the muscle. The technique is used to make sure both are working well together. It can be deep and often times considered invasive, but sometimes it is necessary to break up micro adhesions (aka: scar tissue adhesions). What One needs to remember is; all work is done within a comfort zone of 0-10; with 10 being the top end of the scale at excruciating. The best results are achieved working within the 6-8 zones. Communication with the therapist is vital to ensure that the client is not injured. No pain, no gain is not always the best indicator. Pain IS an indicator, it should be acknowledged, but there needs to be an understanding of “GOOD pain”; which is that which one might feel working out or exercising. Good stress on the musculature. “BAD pain”; is that which creates a sense of vulnerability, unease, fear. This is counterproductive pain.
